Dong has developed a passion for dancing since childhood and dreams of becoming a professional dancer. His father, Keung, a construction worker approaching sixty, perceives Dong as indolent since his graduation and disapproves of his lack of employment, which has widened the gap between them.
One stormy night, Dong is unexpectedly transported back to 1979 Hong Kong, during a strong typhoon. There, he meets his father named Keung, who as a young man had injured his knee. While helping him return home, Dong, confused about being in the past, soon realizes that both of his parents are skilled dancers. He wonders why Keung, after becoming a father, would discourage him from pursuing dance. Before this incident, Dong had never considered how difficult Keung's life had been in his youth. Witnessing his father's dedication to hard work and spending time with him, Dong begins to understand the anxieties that shaped his father's worldview, leading him to reflect on his own life choices.
